Greg came back. He had already worked with AyeZee on Roping Finder, and this time he brought a bigger, messier problem.
The team roping community in Arizona has a handicap numbering system that tells people how skilled a roper is. The idea is that ropers of similar ability can compete fairly. The problem is that the numbers had gotten stale. Someone who competed actively years ago and has been away from the sport still carries the same number. Someone else who has improved significantly has no way to reflect that. The ratings stopped being trustworthy, and in a sport where your number determines who you can rope with and who will rope with you, that matters.
Greg wanted to fix it. He needed a platform.
How the System Works
When a new roper signs up, their account goes to Greg for review before they get an official number. He assigns an initial rating based on what he knows about their ability. From there, members can request a number change if they believe their rating no longer reflects their skill, and Greg can approve or deny it.
The producer network is what keeps the whole thing accountable. Greg has built a group of event producers across Arizona who run competitions and track results using his point system. Those producers are listed on the platform, and their involvement is what gives the ratings real weight. Right now there are 11 producers participating.

What the Platform Includes
Members pay a subscription to be listed with an official rating. The sign-up flow leads to Greg’s approval before an official number is issued. Existing members can request a number update. The producer directory shows which event organizers are participating in the system. And down the road, ropers who are also members of Roping Finder will get a discounted AZTRN membership rate, connecting the two platforms.
A Month and a Half In
About six weeks after launch: 11 producers listed, 94 total users registered, and 45 paying members with an official rating. For a niche platform in a tight-knit sport, that is a real start. The system is working the way it was supposed to and Greg has a tool he can actually build on.
