Greg found AyeZee through a Google search and a Facebook page. He mentioned the veteran-owned aspect and said he wanted to give it a shot. That was the start of what turned into two platforms built together.
His problem was simple to describe and annoying to live with. Team ropers in Arizona had no central place to find partners or keep up with events. If you were looking for someone to rope with, you went into a Facebook group and posted. And sometimes people in those groups would comment things that were not helpful. For someone newer to the sport, that could be enough to stop them from asking at all.
Events were the same situation. Greg would find out about something happening, post it on Facebook, and hope it spread to the right people through shares and friends-of-friends. It worked sometimes. It was not a system.
The Design Direction
Greg had a clear feel in mind: clean but rugged. Something that felt like a rodeo crossed with ESPN. Not flashy, but alive.
The homepage ended up with a corkboard section for featured events, like something pinned up at the arena. There is a banner with scrolling text that gives it that broadcast energy. It felt right for the sport, the kind of thing you could put in front of someone who had never heard of team roping and they would understand immediately what kind of world they were looking at.
What It Does
Ropers can create a profile and list themselves as available for a partner. Someone looking for someone to rope with can search without having to put themselves out there in a public group and risk getting a bad response. The platform handles the awkward part.
Events are posted in one place and stay there. List view, calendar view. Greg manages them through an admin panel without touching code. Multi-day events have a custom date picker so every session is listed correctly without creating duplicate entries.
This was Greg’s first project with AyeZee. By the time it launched, he already had another idea. That one became AZ Team Roping Numbers.
